Re-commissioning a 1985 MK3 2L Laser Capri

This June, our Vehicle of the Month is a 1985 MK3 2L Laser Capri re-commissioned solely by the Heritage Skills Academy in Bicester.
This ‘happy memory holding’ vehicle was sat on a driveway for 18 years before being donated to the Academy by Sue. It belonged to her father, and once he’s passed away she simply couldn’t let go of it. The vehicle was packed with memories of camping and caravan holidays with roadside picnics.
Under guidance from tutor Paul Winsor, the Mechanical apprentice team soon brought the Capri back to life! It was clear to them, that this vehicle was in too good condition to be a training car so here’s what happened next…
“With the new bumpers fitted and fresh fuel added, the car was driven to a local garage for its first MOT in 20 years, which it passed with no advisories.
Sue was informed of the progress made on the Capri and invited to Brookland to view the car, which she duly accepted.
Sue attended Brooklands with her two sons, Toby and Jake, and were thrilled to see the Capri back on the road. They were all taken for a drive around Weybridge by the Heritage Skills Academy Mechanical tutor Paul Winsor, and were amazed how well the car drove. They all left Brooklands with beaming smiles!
The Capri was then taken to a Retro Ride event at Goodwood to be put on display on the Heritage Skills Academy stand”
A rewarding outcome! Please enjoy the re-commission journey of the grand 1985 MK3 2L Laser Capri.
